We have been involved with Dobes since 1980. We have never bred on a large scale compared to some so our success has always been limited and our puppies welfare has always been that they are homed foremost as pets rather than the dog seen to be the next champion. However, two of our dogs bred by us were taken on by novice owners with the potential to do well and were successfully made up to champion by them, no mean achievement in the showdog fraternity which at most times is very difficult.
But it all began with ' Rio'..She was our beautiful foundation bitch who we had waited well over a year for as her sire had to be released from quarantine beforehand, and I was successful in making her to Champion. Her sire was from the U.SA kennel ' Marienburg' and her dam the successful Dizown daisy brown.
She was very feminine, with a great attitude who demanded the judges look at her, with clean lines, and very much a showgirl and could she move! Our greatest moment together was when she won B.I.S at the North of England Dobermann club championship show which drew a staggering entry under 2 American judges beating the very successful breed record holder Ch Sallates ferris! Something i hold close to my heart....
That was well over 20 years ago and she lived to the grand old age of 13 her progeny live on and can be found on many of the top champions of today,as you will see on this site. Thankyou Rio xx
